The Safe Heritage Crest Academy has ignited a passion for language mastery by organizing its maiden Inter-School Spelling Bee Competition, aimed at sharpening students' vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
Speaking at the event held in Abuja on Thursday, Dr. Bamidele Arolasafe, Chief Operating Officer of Safe Heritage Crest Academy, emphasized that the competition was designed to equip students with essential skills for academic and personal growth.
“The competition is not about proving which school is superior but about fostering critical thinking, quick information processing, attentive listening, and effective communication. Spelling is the foundation of learning, and proficiency in it enhances performance across all subjects,” Arolasafe stated.
He further called on corporate organizations to support the initiative and expand it to a national level.
Mrs. Bolanle Moses, the school's administrator, highlighted the role of the English language as a gateway to success, urging schools to adopt spelling bee competitions as a tool for intellectual development. Similarly, Mrs. Naima Abdulkadir, a parent, commended the initiative, expressing confidence in the students' ability to compete on a national scale.
Solomon Olotu, a JSS 3 student, reflected on the rigorous preparation process, describing the competition as a platform for learning and self-improvement.
At the end of the keenly contested event, Golden Crest Royal Academy emerged as the overall winner in both the junior and senior categories. Rhema Salla from Golden Crest Royal Academy took first place in the junior category, followed by Tochi Nwachukwu and Somto Ononyem from Safe Heritage Crest Academy. In the senior category, Praise Otokpa from Golden Crest Royal Academy claimed first place, with Fortune Isa from Safe Heritage Crest Academy and Munachi Edozie from Golden Crest Royal Academy securing second and third positions, respectively.
