Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Revamps Leadership, Introduces New Academic Departments

In a significant restructuring move, Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir, Rector of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, has announced the appointment of new Directors and Deputy Directors, along with the launch of two new academic departments. These changes are part of an ongoing initiative to enhance the institution’s operational efficiency and academic excellence.

New Leadership Appointments

Effective immediately and for a three-year term, the following appointments have been made:

Director, Research Development

Awwal Ayuba Darki – Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre

Ibrahim Ishaku – Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development

Dr. Zainab Ciroma – Director, Career Development Centre

Engr. Dr. Falmata Audu – Deputy Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre

Engr. Nura Hassan – Deputy Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development

These appointments were detailed in a letter from Haruna Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar (Personnel and Pension Matters).

New Academic Departments

In addition to the leadership changes, the Rector has established the Departments of Applied Chemistry and Applied Physics. These initiatives underscore the Polytechnic’s commitment to providing cutting-edge and relevant education. “These new departments will enhance the Polytechnic’s capacity to offer innovative and practical academic programs,” said Muhd Nura Nguru, Head of Information and Public Relations.

Acting Heads have been appointed to manage the new departments on a one-year term:

Ladi Lawan – Acting Head, Department of Applied Chemistry

Ahmed Goje – Acting Head, Department of Applied Physics

This appointment was communicated in a letter signed by Sa’idu Umar Katuzu, Deputy Registrar (Council and General Administration).

Looking Ahead

Nguru emphasized that the Rector’s reorganization efforts aim to boost both efficiency and academic standards across the institution. “By strengthening our leadership team and expanding our academic offerings, we are better positioned to serve our students and the wider community,” he added.
