Taye Currency Declares Pasuma as His Boss, Calls Saheed Osupa a Colleague

Yoruba Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, popularly known as Taye Currency, has clarified his stance on his relationship with fellow Fuji artists, stating that Wasiu Alabi, also known as Pasuma, is his boss, while Saheed Osupa remains his colleague.

Speaking in an interview with Akede Ariya last Thursday, Taye Currency detailed how he met Pasuma and addressed misconceptions about their relationship. He emphasized that while he never learned Fuji music from Pasuma, he has always admired him for his humility.

“I met Pasuma in 1993, and since then, we have been together. I didn’t learn Fuji music from him; I just love him because he is a humble person. I was never his drummer or backup singer. He was in Lagos, and I was in Ibadan. The controversy between us was caused by fan reactions. We are not fighting. Those who insult us are only fueling unnecessary rivalry,” he said.

Addressing past misunderstandings, Taye Currency noted that occasional disagreements are natural in long-standing relationships.

“Anyone who has known each other for 30 years, even as a boss and a worker, is bound to have misunderstandings. Pasuma is not a troublesome person, and neither am I. I have repeatedly asked people—how did I insult Pasuma? With what words?”

He further clarified his relationship with other Fuji artists, stating, “Obesere, who is now a leader for us in Fuji music, is my brother. Saheed Osupa, on the other hand, is my colleague. But Pasuma is my boss because I admit it.”

His remarks come months after his controversial statement in October 2024, where he rejected being called Pasuma’s “son” in the music industry, likening their relationship to that of elder and younger brothers rather than that of a father and child.

The comments sparked widespread debate among Fuji music fans, with many of Pasuma’s supporters criticizing him.

However, in a recent turn of events, Taye Currency met Pasuma in Mecca during the ongoing Umrah 2025 and clarified that his words had been misinterpreted. In a viral video from the meeting, he expressed regret for any offense caused and reaffirmed his respect for Pasuma, acknowledging him as his superior.

He reiterated his admiration for the Recognition hitmaker, emphasizing that he never intended to insult him and remains committed to their long-standing relationship.
