Deputy Governor Mourns as Kogi East APC Chairman, Suleman Omika, Passes Away

The Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East, Suleman Omika, has died, leaving family, friends, and political associates in deep shock.

Omika, who recently replaced Nasir Agbodu as the party's zonal chairman, was reportedly healthy until his sudden death on Friday. According to a family source, he was resting in his compound in Lokoja when he suddenly began calling for help, complaining of weakness. He passed away instantly.

The State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, confirmed the sad news in a telephone conversation with a correspondent. He stated that the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Joel Salifu Oyibo, personally called to inform and commiserate with him while he was in Lagos to console the Lagos APC Chairman over the loss of his wife. “Yes, it’s confirmed. The Deputy Governor called to inform and commiserate with me,” Bello said.

Reacting to the news, the Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, expressed his deep sorrow over Omika’s death. In a statement released on Friday by his Press Secretary, Unubi Emmanuel, the Deputy Governor described the news as “both shocking and devastating.”

He praised the late Omika’s character, calling him “a gentleman who served the party diligently and contributed significantly to the growth and success of the APC in Kogi East.” He added that Omika’s death is a great loss not only to the party but also to the state, as his contributions to its progress and development were invaluable.

Suleman Omika was born on October 1, 1980, in Oduh Ogboyaga, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
