The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has cautioned motorists against reckless driving as part of its measures to ensure a safe and smooth Easter celebration.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, made this known during a media briefing on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while on a monitoring tour of road operations.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Sector Public Education Officer, Elizabeth Jayeola, the FRSC has deployed personnel and operational vehicles across the state, including two new patrol vehicles provided by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
Hamzat confirmed that both Regular and Special Marshals have been strategically stationed along major highways, inner roads, and festive routes to ease traffic flow and ensure road safety during the 2025 Easter celebrations.
He disclosed that ambulances have been placed at key corridors to enable swift emergency responses and rescue operations. In addition, the FRSC is collaborating with relevant traffic and emergency agencies to ensure smooth vehicular movement in and out of Lagos during the festive period.
To curb traffic violations, mobile courts will be on standby to try offenders on the spot, with a focus on high-risk infractions such as drunk driving, speeding, expired tyres, seatbelt violations, and phone use while driving.
"Drivers must steer clear of alcohol and drug use while driving. One night of fun should not cost a lifetime of regret. Fix your wipers, drive responsibly, and remember—your family is waiting for you," Hamzat warned.
He also advised pedestrians and vulnerable road users to stay alert, avoid dangerous road crossings, and remain conscious of their environment.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to a crash-free celebration and urged all Lagos residents to support efforts aimed at ensuring road safety during the holiday season.
