Eight Kwara TESCOM Candidates Disqualified Over Drug Test Failures
Eight out of the 1,800 candidates shortlisted for teaching jobs under the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) have been disqualified after testing positive for banned substances.

The announcement was made on Monday in a statement by TESCOM’s Press Secretary, Sam Onile, quoting the Commission’s Chairman, Bello Abubakar.

According to the statement, the affected candidates tested positive for substances including benzodiazepine, tramadol, cotinine, marijuana, and amphetamine. The drug screening was conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with full backing from the Kwara State Government.

Abubakar explained that the disqualified individuals would be replaced by the next best-performing candidates from their respective local government areas.

“The drug test was carried out by the NDLEA with full support from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” the statement said. “This action underscores the government’s zero tolerance for drug abuse. We have a responsibility to protect schoolchildren from any exposure to substance abuse.”

The TESCOM Chairman commended Governor AbdulRazaq for ensuring a merit-driven recruitment process, stating that the governor had once again shown fairness and a strong commitment to improving education in the state.
