The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun area of the state, rescuing 10 victims and arresting three suspects.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, who briefed reporters on Monday, said the illegal operation was discovered following a tip-off received on Saturday. Officers swiftly acted and arrested the primary suspect, 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, along with two accomplices—Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18.
During the raid, the police rescued seven adult women and three children aged seven, five, and two. The adult victims were identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26). The rescued children were named Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).
All victims are currently receiving proper care and support.
According to Hundeyin, the suspects confessed to kidnapping the victims from various locations across the state to operate the illegal baby factory. He added that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be prosecuted in court.
Providing a broader update on police efforts, Hundeyin revealed that in the past two weeks, a total of 39 individuals were arrested for crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child theft, vandalism, illegal possession of firearms, illicit drug dealing, and baby factory operations.
In a separate incident, police successfully rescued two kidnap victims from Igbe Alagemo in the Ijede area of Ikorodu. The victims had been abducted during a night attack on March 26, 2025. The kidnappers, armed and violent, stormed the home of a 40-year-old man named Dare, killing his security dog before taking him. They then abducted a second victim, 25-year-old Rodiat, from a neighboring house.
Following a distress call at about 9 p.m. on the night of the attack, police and local security teams launched a joint operation. After three days of intense search, the victims were rescued at 11:56 p.m. on March 29 and safely reunited with their families.
Hundeyin confirmed that the area has since returned to calm, but surveillance continues as investigations to apprehend the kidnappers remain ongoing
