Nigeria Has Regressed Under Tinubu’s Leadership – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State Governor and Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming the country has been regressing since Tinubu assumed office.

In an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa in Katsina, El-Rufai accused the Tinubu-led government of incompetence, nepotism, and abandoning the founding principles of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, Nigeria is currently facing greater challenges in security, economic stability, and governance compared to previous administrations.

“Since Tinubu became president, the country has started moving backwards,” El-Rufai stated.

“Insecurity has worsened, the economy is deteriorating, wealthy people are now poor, and ethnic profiling has intensified,” he added.

He further alleged that Tinubu’s appointments are largely influenced by personal relationships and ethnic considerations.

“Whoever he appoints must be someone he knows or from his tribe,” El-Rufai said. “They may try to dismiss this, but Nigerians are not fools. You can’t bear a certain name and they claim you’re from Katsina — people can see what’s going on.”
